turbo got no boost after 4,000 rpm
does anybody know y my turbo got no boost after 4,000 rpm. i just hear a loud wishle noise after 4,000 rpm and my car doesn't want to pick up after that. i have a turbonetiec external wastegate on my 95 accord vtec. where do i install the boost controller? i have a manual boost controller. do i put it in between the turbo and the wastegate?? thanx for the help
I asume you have a turbo Prelude... Can you list any more information about the turbo and what the rest of your setup consists of? That will help us out in possibly narrowing down your problem. Sounds like either a boost leak or a vacuum line leak somewhere.
Do you have a boost guage? If not, how do you know it is not boosting. If you think you have no boost because its "not picking up" you could be wrong. most external wastgates come stock with a 4-5 pound spring. take into account an intercooler, if you have one, and maybe a few leaks around your couplers, and you will feel next to nothing. If you do have a boost guage and it reads zero, then you eiter have a huge hole in your piping or its not installed correctly. Give us some more information.
list of my set up
Turbonetices/ t3 t4
turbonetices wastegate set at 9 pound
spearco intercooler
hks wastegate (i feel some air coming air while is idling, feel more when i take rpm to 3,000 is it nromal?)
i have a manual boost controller, but it don't make a differen't when i adjusted. the boostwould sitll go up to 9 psi. when the boost hit around 9 then the boost gauge would start to flutrate then my car would not pick up

Sounds like a leak though. I would say to re wire your boost guage but you said it feels like your power dies as well. Check your couplers and do a soap test.
Sounds like a jacked up BOV to me... My adjustable volvo BOV can be turned up and I will lost a lot of boost uptop, then once I tighten the adjustment screw it will boost about 4 psi higher.
