Re: Turbo 4AGE (now with 50% more ****!)
Ok well i finished this a while ago and got lazy. Never posted the end result.
Now i know ill get ---- from the pros since im not running a stand alone or any sort of piggy back system, but ive put over 500kms on the car and beat the crap out of it the whole time. It hasnt blown up YET, but we'll see. I still have a few things to touch up, like the exhaust leak and bog/stumble above 6000rpm. Turns out its the TVIS plates not opening since the engine is now under boost and not vacuum. Other then that It pulls hard and sucks back more gas then my Dodge dakota 4x4.
Heres what it looks like now.

Looks like a HMT job well done! I also salute you for keeping your headlights all the way down. I can't stand the jdm drifter look with them half-open.
After some quick on TVIS, can't you just put a checkvalve in the line? The pictures show they're open with the engine off (0psi), and looks like a solenoid is in the vac line feeding that actuator. Maybe just connect it after the brake booster's check valve to share that contained vacuum. Or pull a HMT move and remove them, low rpm power is for grandma.

I had the headlights like that cause we originally were going to run the intercooler piping different and that was the point where they were in the way the most. I hate that ---- too.
As for the TVIS after doing some research it operates different then i thought it did. The odd thing is when i applied vacuum to the acuator i thought the TVIS was opening causing it to run better in the high rpm which doesnt make sense at all. If its supposed to be CLOSED under vacuum it shouldnt matter at all that its not getting vacuum above 4500rpm. As for deleting it i would, but you need a spacer since the intake hits the valve cover if you dont have the TVIS plate in.
Anyway its too late for me to think right now, thanks for the advice ill have to sort it out tomorrow.

dude reach underneath the intake mani and unplug the tvis. this keeps it open
constantly. thats what i did with mine and it doesnt have any problems at higher
rpms. and my tvis used to kick on almost as loud as vtakkk. (indicating that it worked
well)
