Default Thrust Spacer

When rebuilding a turbo, where does the thrust spacer go? I Can seem to figure it out

fyi...it looks very similar to the nut that attaches the compressor wheel to the shaft, but it's only a six point instead of 12 and it doesnt seem to have the same pitch

? the thrust bearing and collar are on the face of the bearing housing(opposite side of the turbine wheel) but i've never seen a 6 point one?? you have me lost there.

i think i have myself lost too...i think its just another compressor wheel nut for a different sized shaft
