It's not so much that the entire internals are weak on an h22a, but rather the ringlands. There is a guy on h-t (Firedrake) that is running some good numbers on an h22a1. It's like 379whp on a stock motor running 12.7's. It's all in the tuning, also, I think the closed deck design of the a1 motor also helps out.
Oh yah, and yah, I think a t3 (no matter what trim/size) is gonna be too small. I ran a straight t3, .60 ar and it peaked out WAY too early. Also a buddy of mine ran a straight t3 off of a benz and it barely even felt like there was a turbo.
