smore smoke! valve cover filter...yeah i need bearing help!

ok i take it back, it does have a smell to it, but not oil or coolant, smells like corn? or soemthing like that?

cant be carless for too long. plan for now, replace with newer b18b, and possibly a ver mild build, i still only want two fitty hp, maybe 300 lol.

yeah..so i finally got around to this thing. took me long enough. took everything apart, cylinder walls seem okay. rings are fine too, wtf? but the collar/neck center ring thing and some on the bottom one as well are broken and/or cracked on all the pistons.

only have camera phone and you cant really see ----, bro lost the damn camera.

The rings themselves don't actually break. It's the ringlands in between that break, as you've obviously found out. You can hone it out and slap in new pistons and rings and she should be ok. Obviously if you're this far along, might as well build it.

ill do that with the the other engine then that was always a plan

i really need a car, its a pain in the *** to work around peoples schedules and ----.


can i just throw on some other LS' used pistons? i should right?

One of my buddies vitara setup did the exact same thing. A few days later he says there was a washer that somehow fell inside the head! Suffice to say that some people cant handle a boosted d.

You can do that as long as the new rods you are tossing in have the same bearing code stamp as the old ones you took out, otherwise you'll have to buy new bearings to match the journal stamps. Example: if you removed a rod that was stamped with a 4, replace it with another rod stamped 4 and you can reuse the old bearing. Otherwise, the old rod stamped with #4 and the new rod stamped #2 means you have to order a new upper and lower rod bearing half to match up with the new tighter clearance. These motors aren't like old chevy small blocks...there are no "one size fits all" journal sizes.

well i was gunna guess rings or ring lands but i didnt read it fast enough. blowby is normal on most hondas, but only a certain amount. blown hg can cause it too.
