the dont do auto motive machiniing and just becuase i can spelling is unimportant its a ------- forum
and for the measuring and truing of this peice ive suggested bore guage and caliper if your stupid enough to have to second guess yourself you shouldnt be building the engine anyway

ATTENTION PLS KTHX!!!!

I've had an entry level metallurgy class. Plus, I have spoken to Brad Z of RLZ about just this thing... we went through it with Speed Phreak's 2.0 LS.

The temperatures you take steel to in order to temper it does not discolor it, or warp it.

The temperatures it takes to discolor steel ruins the temper, and warps it.

Throw the goddamn thing away, you bunch of ------- douches.

Nine years worth of classes, to be exact, and I'm at least ten times smarter than you are - no offense.

Plus, I mentioned Brad Z.... three Pro-Stock wins, three Winston Cup wins, and eight NHRA world records don't lie. I know where to go with my annoying little Q's when I can't logic it out with my own noggin.

You win.

I agree, I think you should ditch the rod, or take it to the shop like everyone else said. It has to take a decent temp to actually discolor the rod like that.

I have an actual honest to god associates degree (more than a class!!1) in machining, my second year concentration was CNC not tool and die, but I STILL got to use one of the Lucifer tempering ovens and test for hardness on rockwell scale.

That rainbow ---- = bad.

That, and Brad Z :p

i wouldnt worry about it, if it plastiguages fine and it isnt warped id still rock it. That discoloration isnt in really in an area where rods typically fail anyway... i mean, ive never seen an endcap fail. If it was badly discolored mid beam then i might worry about it.
