That rod is junk.

Ben at importparts will sell them individually. You might try TT, they offer really good service along those lines, too.

Discoloration from heat = warpage + ruined temper.

Sounds just like a CC-Fab manifold!

they get more discolored then that when you use a rod warmer to install press fit piston pin in the small end ??? I know what you are saying but I dont think it has been nearly hot enough to damage it, but it would be bad if I was wrong and she came apart again :-X

I'd plastigauge it a few times on the journal you plan on using it, then take it to a machinest to make sure its cool, I'm sure its fine.

The rod is supposed to be taken to 400 deg, pin chilled, pressed quickly together. That's not enough temp to discolor or damage the metal.

Old redneck machine shop locally was heating rods with a torch to fit pistons, discolored on the middle + small ends, had a couple of them fold from fatigue because of that.

its toast, i had a friend that bought a set on ebay and they were the same way.then the machine shop measured them up and the rod bore looked like a damn egg, they said just buy a new rod.

I wouldent use it unless a machine shop measured it out and ok'ed it. no use in building a motor and driving on it for 100 miles before you spin a bearing.
