If you had your vent system hooked up to your charge pipe, venting oil into the comp. housing...

well got my restrictor installed, and fixed my LONG return line that looked like it was kind of going uphill, now a straight shot to the oil pan... but still have huge clouds of blue smoke... rebuild?

how does a restrictor help a turbo?

slows the oil inlet to the turbo thus making it not back up and blow the seals

Rebuild if you have a balancer, otherwise send it somewhere.
