Default reasons to do a turbo rebuild?

I was just wondering what was involved in rebuilding a turbo and how worth it is it. I plan on buying a used t-25 for the set up I'm working on and am just trying to decide weather I should buy a cheeper one that will probley have some shaft play and would benefit from a rebuild or weather I should spend the extra money for one thats already in very good shape. This set up is not going to be premenant (1-2 years tops) and buget is pretty much the most important thing. I geuss my question is, in what way's am I going to benefit from having a very good condition/rebuit turbo and is it worth it for a budget/temp. set up? Thanks!

Default Re:reasons to do a turbo rebuild?

every turbo that ive seen that needed rebuilding had end play, meaning the thrust bearing is fucked. and when this happens the fins hit the housing and the whole things junk.

there really isnt to much to go wrong with a turbo its very simple and the bearings work great.

the truth is, i dont even think its worth your time/money to rebuild any turbo that is a junkyard special. because they can all be had for 100$.

whatever u buy, itll prolly be fine just make sure it has no end play.
