Re: Rear mount turbo CRX

yeah i just read through their site and IMO, STS is almost a scam:

optional intercooler, optional engine management (FMU +walbro pump!! WOW), optional blow off valve.... BAsically the kit includes just a turbo, the oil pump, a wastegate, and a bunch of piping!! All the rest is cheese.

for a RAM 1500 pickup truck, for 4195$, you get:

Garrett Turbo
TiAL Wastegate
K&N Air filter and Outerwears DryCharger
Turbo Oiling System
HPC coated intake tubing
HPC coating exhaust tubing
Electrical harness
Silicone connectors, clamps and fittings
Return oil cap
Full color, step-by-step instruction manual
1 year limited parts warranty
Trucks/SUVs and the Pontiac GTO systems now include a free snorkel kit
Camaro/Trans Am systems now include an air filter shield

....AHAHA!!!! WHat a joke... Any uneducated enthusiast will see in this parts list a complete turbo kit and will mistakefully believe that his truck will get the advertised 60% gains with that 4195$ package!!!
You need to click on some links at the very bottom of the page to find out that you are missing another 2500$+ of stuff to do it right!!! :1

Doesn't mean remote turbos can'T work tough.... I'm just saying that STS SUCKS.

hell yea, they rip you off. Which is why I'm doing all the pipes and ---- myself. lol, but then again, what company really doesnt rip us off for a kit(ahem...full race)? I do like thier oil filler cap-return idea though. I think I am going to try and rig that up myself with a disconnect fitting on an elbow off of it so I can do oil changes easily. I think that is the way they have it, but I'm gonna see if a hose place near me has something like that...

Jo, do you think I should use that small fmic I had on the last setup or get myself a dsm side mount for the setup? I want that air cooler than 115 degrees at my TB.

STS turbo kit prices are outrageous because that's the market they focus on. And that is one of the reasons that they have not gotten into Hondas yet.

They are super expensive, but the guys that are buying them up have plenty of disposable income and not much turbo knowledge, they just want the power and have the cash to pay for it.

I don't blame them for going for that market. Even at their really high prices, they can barely keep up with the demand and are expanding really rapidly. A good friend of mine's brother is the CEO, he's a pretty smart kid and seems to be building the company well.

No doubt. If you can find a niche in a market, get into it and take full advantage of it. Thats what business is all about.

The exhaust cools to the point where the LS1 cars run a hot side identical to Josh's. I'd guess the intake charge is similar, although it doesn't shed as much heat because the differential isn't higher (boiling water freezes faster concept), so a smaller IC should be okay. I don't remember your old IC, tho, so I may freak out when I see it. :P

It is a bit small, but tube/fin is good.

2.5" inlets?

Re: Rear mount turbo CRX

yep. 2.5X5X16 CORE size. I like the idea of the side mount though for stealthiness. :) Plus the air shouldnt needa ton of cooling...but then again, I will be running 15+psi...

You can give that a light skin of flat black and be stealth.
