Haha, sorry scott I was actually refering to your setup.. I thought your turbo was a RHb5? .. guess its a "TD04L from 2002 WRX" I knew it was a small IHI though..

See it is possible with a smaller sized turbo.

On that note I can advise that it would be nice to have a spare junker head laying on your bench when you are constructing your manifold. The heat created from welding could possibly weaken the aluminum head. Go ahead and tac up your welds with it in place on the motor, or the best of your ability.

I was going to just throw the cracked b18a1 head I had in the dumpster at my brother's apartment community, but then I realized that fact of it's use. No, nobody would recycle it, said it would be too much work (not worth it) to strip out all the non-aluminum metals from the head for the recycling. Naturally if I was home I would just torch those parts out, I like to recycle all the aluminum I can.

I honestly doubt welding the manifold while its on the head is going to hurt anything. Aluminum disipates heat pretty fast, and they were designed to get hot. Other than the valve stem seal smoking, (which is highly unlikly) there really isnt a problem.

quadnie, I do appricate your input.. but sometimes you look way to deep into things when they are pretty simple.

alright...you are forgiven. now i gotta figure out what i'm going to do when i install the .60/.63. i figure i'll have someone make an equal-length at that time that clears the a/c.
