If you flush it with water. I'm thinking you should flush it backwards i.e. in the opposite direction the exhaust flows through it.No sense in forcing metal in to the turbine area if you dont have to.
Why not just grind the welds off, port it, and weld the thing back together.

did you have to use specail wire/filler to weld to the cast?

If you separate the exhaust housing from the center housing you dont have to worry about anything going towards the turbine section.

good point on the serperating it,. but might be to much work, id say if your going to keep it together, takes some old rags, wet them till there damp, thencramp them down there. othere then that you might be screwed,
