Default is ok to use charge pipe after intercooler for wastegate signal?

Ok right now the wastegate sig is right at the compressor housing, i'm getting 6.8psi or so, i want 7.5 so i think the stupid intercooler is dropping it a bit

anyhow, can i use the WG signal to the charge pipes after the cooler? will i spike a lot or not?

I don 't see why you couldn't do it that way. I'va also heard that hooking the line up to the Intake manifold is better than the compressor housing because it will raise boost a bit.

Yeah it works great. Keeps from pressure drop from the intercooler I read 8psi all day long. Mine is right before my throttle body, all I did was tapped a 1/4barb on there and it works like a charm. I will be moving it right after intercooler because on some cool nights I have a little bit of spike which I dont want.

^What he said.. Right on the money; though I have never spiked with my tial...

why would cold spike it? i think temperature making the thing spike is AT THE WASTEGATE actuator.. not the source... cold air hot air warm air at 8psi is always 8psi, doesn't matter what air it is... pressure is pressure... it's the mechanical ---- inside the wastegate that is temperature depedent i think.

In fact that's the only politically correct place to connect the wastegate actuator. Connect it to the manifold and the turbo might be struggling with more boost under certain part throttle situations. Connect it at the compressor and it won't compensate for IC pressure drop.

the colder the air the more dense (more oxygen) it is so that matters for your engine but as far as a wastegate it shouldnt matter much.

if the wastegate is really cold (just started up) then it might spike b/c of the spring rate being stiffer but thats all i can think of tempature wise. maybe it does that on a cold day too but uaually your wg stays pretty damn hot.
Also what size line are you running to the wastegate? If it is to small it might be acting as a restrictor.

The purpose of a restrictor on the wastegate line is to delay the time required for vacuum (or boost) to travel through the connector. Why would you want to do this? In our case it helps speed turbo response. By now you've probably noticed that when you floor it the maximum boost level goes high and then settles back down to the preset level. This overshoot is called the boost spike. You can directly control the size of the boost spike by using a larger or smaller orifice in the restrictor: the bigger the restrictor's hole, the smaller the spike; the smaller the hole, the bigger the spike.

hmm.. interesting facts.... it's not small as the FPR hose... it's like more of the regular 5/16" hoses.. and it goes like 3 inches to my compressor housing so it's short... i don't think any restriction there...

ok, diagnose this?:

4th gear today, i pulled 7psi or 6.8psi near redline.. didn't drop much.. 3rd gear.. about 6.5psi... 2nd gear DROPS TO 5psi.... hmm .. i couldn't bother 1st gear...

so you think maybe my engine ins't producing enough exhaust pressure to spin it at lower gears not enough load this is bullshit my engine
