It needs an amount of boost (1-3 psi or so) to tell it to increase pressure, and once your pushing 1-3 psi into your moto it starts to lean out. You wouldnt need a fmu on a chipped or hacked ecu.

Sean

the big problem with an fmu is also the fact that you are running astronomical fuel pressures with any boost over like 5 psi

with the vafc hack i'm going to run 450cc injectors, so will i need the extra fuel pressure that and fpr offers???

basically will i need an fpr if i have the injectors with the afc hack?

sorry for my lack of knowledge

Re:Noob needs an ok on turbo setup please

no you won't need a fpr, but you'll need the walboro 255 cause the 450s are gonna overwork your stock pump.

oic

does anyone know the size of the exit hole on my block that gets connected to the oil feed line is?? because i heard that if lets say the hole is 1/2inch and my feedline's inner diameter is less than that then i could be screwed?

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE GREAT INFO EVERYONE

i have learned a lot just from this post and i would give you guys a round of beer if i could

What if a FMU is used on a car that uses a MAF to meter air instead of a MAP, the MAF should beable to meter the incresed air to a certain point while boost starts to build, say 1-2psi or so, right? So then there would'nt be a lean spot? (but still the high fuel pressure to worry about.)

not really, stock fuel pumps can supprt quite a bit of power at stock fuel pressures. the 255 is a good safety measure though

T3 60a/r fortysomething/60 turbo wtaercooled internal gated at 6psi
-just get a 42/48, abundant and easy to come by. A 60/48 would be great though or a 60/63

rank1racing manifold with t3flange, not the extended lenght medusa one, just the log one that is pretty nice, the middle priced one i think $285
-His manifolds are nice, but I say since you are just 7psi'ing this thing, buy an HF manifold and an adapter plate. Should only be like 80 bucks total.

johnnyracecar 6 inch intercooler
-nice. it's fairly priced and fair quality, if you wanna pay a liitle more for better quality, get a custom coach, but the johnnyracecar will do fine.

turboxs bov
-nice if you have the money, but a DSM 1st gen would be cheaper.

oil feed kit from that streetperformance shop
-buy the oil feed and drain from stealthmode. Nice kit.

oil return kit from the same shop
-read above

vortech fmu
-boo

255 wahlbro fuel pump
-nice

420-450 cc dsm injectors
-450cc is primo

some kind of fpr
-boo

manual boost controller and boost gauge
-manuel boost controller may not be too necessary since you don't plan on boosting too much, just adjust the aculator to adjust the boost. And a boost guage is a definite must.

miscellanues clamps, vaccum hoses, and check valve
-yeah you are gonna need those except for the check valves

and cutom 2.5 downpipe and custom ic pipes
-you will need both

QUESTIONS:

How good is the rank1racing manifold?
-nice, but I say do HF

for the down pipe do i need ot buy a t3 flange and take that to the shop??
-if you don't have that liitle housing, buy one from a saab and just weld the dp to that, or you could be fancy and get a flange to mat it up to.

for the ic piping do i just take the car to the shop??
-you could cut it up yourself or go to a muffler shop and have them bend you some. Or if you don't mind ghettoness, go to an auto supply store and get some of that flexible tubing and do it yourself, cheap and it will get the job done. And you won't have to pay bullshit labor fees.

finally what kind of gaskets do i need and how do i install them, for instance i am sure that you need a gasket where the turbo meet manifold???
-gasket for where the turbo meets the manifold, yeah it'd be nice, look on eBay it's a T3 gasket. If you go HF manifold like I suggest, if it doesn't already come with the gasket, buy an HF gasket.

THAT IS EVERYTHING THAT I AM BUYING I AM NOT GETTING A SINGLE MORE THING AM I GOOD TO GO????
-for management use either a VAFC or if you are OBD1 uberdata. I say use VAFC first though, then do uberdata later, when you are more familiar with it.
-you will also need some injector seals to mod so you can use the DSM injectors.

Re:Noob needs an ok on turbo setup please

thanks again for the replies,

why wouldnt i need the check valves, how else can i not throw cel's??????

and is the t3 gasket where the manifold meets turbo the only gasket i need??????how about the downpipe??? or anything else

and whats the difference between the safc, vafc, and vafc II???

i know the vtec controllers can change vtec changeovers but why would i want to mess with vtec changeovers, if when honda engineered the car they designed to turn on during the most optimal moment???????

Read the FAQ and the writeups by TurboEF9 in the engine management section. This will answer all your fuel management questions. ;)

honda engineered vtec to kick in at the optimal moment for joe schmoe the commuter. on a stock engine though you really dont get much but the more power you have the more gains you can get by lowering your vtec actuation point.

as far as the difference between s-afc, v-afc, and the II versions of each, the s-afc is for non vtec cars, the v-afc is for vtec cars, and the II versions are simply newer and better, they give you more fuel adjustment points, look sexier, and probably have other things i dont know about that are good and different from their predecessers

the way i see it anywhere you have metal bolted to metal you should need a gasket... ie- block to mani-mani to adapter plate-adapter plate to turbo-turbo to dp, etc. but i might be wrong. not sure about gaskets around the adapter plate.
