There are also other cooling problems associated with no thermostat. For example the coolan't may not saturate properly if the flow is too much, and you may not reach as much pressure in the water passages. Pressure is good because it minimizes air pockets.

if you have no t-stat it will affect coolant flow in a bad way. so rather than running no t-stat, just cut or drill out the actual mechanism and run the metal plate, with a hole in it.

same idea as a punched out cat, it makes a bottle neck in the system.
