try spraying starting flui d or carb cleaner over any vacuum port and the intake. If it idles up really high then you have a vacuum leak in that spot

alright, got the problem sorted out last night. took longer than I hoped because I had to replace my radiator after it decided to take a dump on me haha.

anyway, I replaced both the FITV and IACV and neither did anything so I started from scratch by removing any extra vacuum hoses going to other things and went with basics. I also unhooked the little vacuum pot thingy on the front of the intake manifold. Turns out that apparently the hose from the manifold to the MAP sensor was bad somehow. when I replaced it, car idled fine. when I put it back on...car went crazy again. funny thing is that starting fluid had no effect on the line

anyway, after this, if I hooked the vacuum pot thingy back inline, it would go crazy again. so I replaced it with another one I had that wasnt gutted out and have that one just running to the deadspot on the map bracket and the car idles just fine.

I'm assuming that the combination of the bad map vacuum hose and the fact that the little vacuum pot didnt have an intake tube reference point was really messing with computer.

anyway, I got it sorted out and thanks for the help guys!
