Re:My manifold!
is that the first manifold that you've welded? i just bought a welder and am going to try my hand at making some mani's. how long did that take? you have any pointers? that ---- does look good as hell for flux core, i hope i can get some to come out looking that good!

Re:My manifold!
jeff cause i pressure tested yours and it leaked in like 40 spots! believe me i was going to
rofl.
yeah when welding a mani MAX setting. make sure your wire feed isnt to fast, itll sound like bacon if its perfect, also groove the joint your making and start in the middle then puddle it out to the sides.

Re:My manifold!
whenyou start to make your manifold, dont forget to interrupt your welds. make them short, dont put too much heat for too long into the metal. it weakens it. and also little ribs added to pipe-flange junctions can increase durability on the joint. just my little bit of 2 cents :P

Re:My manifold!
Justin, if the welder is on the small side, I have an 80 amp wire feed (100 Amp peak) that I used to make my log manifold, wouldn't it help to keep the heat for better penetration? The manual actually recommends pre-heating for 1/4" and thicker. I actually tried to keep the welds going as long as I could. It looked similar to shortyz, then I skimmed over the hole thing with a tungsten carbide bit in my die grinder... and smothered it with about 4 coats of white ceramic paint, though it might help show any leaks
