Almost every bike motor makes much more than 100hp/l and none of them are equipped with variable valve control. 2000psi really saw my point. It's cool technology in a way but I was just commenting on the "VTEC power increase". Dr.Boost... it's a fact that normal engines with wild cams get bad emissions and fuel economy in part-throttle is really bad. Johnyquest... I don't even know what you're saying, lots of engines have two cams, it's called DOHC on an inline motor and has proven better reliability on high-rpm applications.
D16tuner... of course peak power wouldn't be any higher with just the high cam, because peak power happens where the high cam is in use anyway. And explain how a vtec-equipped engine is capable of more power than the same engine without vtec...

I didn't intend to start a flamewar here... sorry.

And yes, those dyno graphs are indeed odd, the power and torque curves should cross at 5252RPM using the american system (horsepower and ft-lbs) where power is torque times rpm divided by 5252

Ummmm...read the whole post.

His statement sounded very unclear and I didn't realize he was talking about comparing a gigantic cam non VTEC to a stock VTEC. Obviously a large cam profile is going to eat more gas and have less than perfect emissions.

I have A 2000 GSR...It's N/A at this time.It is suprisingly fast & gets decent fuel mileage. I feel it has a lot to do with V-TEC. Mine switches at 6000 RPM. I know it's switching late in the RPM range(factory setting) But from 6 to 8...it screams. It's gotten me by for almost 4 yrs now. With all that said, One still can not deny the irresistable desire for more power....Enter boost.

Yeah man. Milleneum opened up a new shop and Abacus lend them their dyno for the grand opening of the store. Abacus is not too bad.... they are both expensive tho....
