Thread locker is theo-rectally not needed.

There was some discussion of flywheels being provided with coated fasteners, when stock uncoated should be retained. The coatings apparently skew torque procedure/readings. I couldn't get a straightforward answer as to whether that was what had happened or not, and promptly lost interest.

yeah i dunno about aluminum FW's, theres a ton of peope that have success with them but it still rock a chromoly unit from ACT. its a bargain at just over 200 bux for the 8 or 10 lb version

I have both, 7LBS al and a 10lbs chromoly one and never had any problems with either. It doesn't say to not use thread locker but it's just a lil safety precaution and just safer knowing that it's there.

ive heard that chromemoly units get soo thin in areas that they warp the easiest of all of them. I love my 8lb aasco unit, with replaceable friction surface

i got the 7.5 lb fidanaza aluminum flywheel, not installed yet tho :P is chromoly better material then aluminum for our flywheels?

not only from loose bolts, but probably because the bolts were re-used.

i dont know baout hondas, but many cars use stretch bolts for things like this, and you dont reuse them for these reasons.

I have a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel for my B18C for about a year w/turbo and I don't have that problem. I have never torqued down flywheel bolts to spec. I have seen them come loose on other cars at spec torque. As for torquing them down, AbaZ said it best.
