Get the cutout for sure. QTP makes an awesome one.

 

Well ****... I pulled the turbo off my car and put the stock header on and guess what No smoke at idle. I let the temp come up and still no smoke.

The oil drain on the turbo is soaked so that leads me to believe the drain collapsed in the bend and caused the oil pressure to get to high for the turbo seals.

I still got to get it back together and drive it around to see if its the turbo for sure. But it looks like I'll be N/A for a while.

Got it all back together with out the turbo on it and drove for about 20min and no smoking. I guess its time to upgrade the turbo to a 16g.

 

sick ride man i just picked up my td05 2day and i noticed that my charge piping is on the opposite side of yours. mine is on the passenger side while yours is on the drivers side from pics on the first page. how was your piping ran?

 

I mounted the turbo backwards so the charge pipe would face that way. I also made the exhaust a bit easier to run.
