I thought bout that, heating up the housing and freezing the bearing

 

You don't want to add more bearings then you have to first of all. If you can't make a spacer just use the outside cases of 2 bearings for spacers.
I want to see how this works out I have a played out .42 .48.

 

What i could do is only machine the depth needed to keep the bearings flush, and this will also keep the oiling holes unblocked and dousing the centre with oil. The other option like i said before is to bore out the old journal bearing so theres no contact with the shaftand use it as a spacer. The problem with that tho is that it may block the oiling holes since the journal bearing wotn be spinning at all. So really the first way is the only way to do it.

 

This is a garret cartridge.

 

Hmmmm I have some machinery and a pair of t25's ..... temped to try this on one of them and run some tests.

I'm stuck at finding bearing sizing that isnt gay. Mostly OD stuff so i dont have to machine the stupid housing.
