That is a pretty expensive welder for a first timer, you might want to look into something a little more cost efficient like a Hobart, or a Lincoln electric. For 1000 US you could get your own custom exhaust made with a custom manifold.

I have a Hobart MIG with an argon setup, thing works great. Made my whole exhaust with a mani and downpipe, plus the cost of the welder for 1500 CDN.

I've welded before, you should practice with some mild steel before you do a manifold.

i have been pratice on a flux core welder. i can do an ok job. well,i saw this lincoln for about $500. i either get a lincoln or a snap-on one. i like snap-on. most of my tools are snap-on. i'm a technician. does your manifold crack with you use the mig to weld your manifold? some ppl said the the mig welder is not strong enough to weld stianless 304. can u give me the spec of your welder BIGj?

if you want to weld anthingy thicker than about 1/8" in SS, you'll need a bigger mig than a 130 amp, which is on the small side for a mig.

You'll want at least 170 AMP, 220 volt model.

I have alot of snap-on tools in my box, I'm really happy with my Lincoln, reality is if your welder is just for hobby reasons like mine a lincoln or miller will more than do the job, you'll never get your money's worth out of the snap-on welder (which could be a rebadged miller or lincoln anyway).

Heres a secret. Snap On doesn't make welders! They are made by another company like most of the stuff they sell. If you can get the same spec welder from lincoln for less money do that. Lincoln most likely makes their welders for them.

Oh yeah next time you are in the shop put a Lincoln floor jack next to a SnapOn. Hmmmm they are identical!

i know a 220v is better than a 110v, but the thing is i don't have 220v at home. i heard u can convert it, but i don't know hot to do it. if anybody have a diagram how to convert a 110 to 220v then that would be great.
