have you unloaded the megatune software completly and re-installed it? remember you HAVE to delete ALL the files, there is a folder that it creates and you must delete that for the new software to be installed correctly. If it still doesnt read after that the communication chip is likely faulty

To the OP you buy a kit and it will come with the ms unit and the processor you choose (msI or msII daughterboard). I would recommend buying the stim to test ---- out as you build and help you get connected to your pc. Then you can also buy a cable to wire it into your car, or just hack your original harness and wire it yourself. They sell a relay board that makes wiring into a non EFI car damn easy, but if you can read a schematic that isn't necessary either... more convenience. And to connect to a pc it has a built in serial port, problem is most pc's don't have a serial port so you would need a usb-serial converter. I've used everything from the cheap nokia cables for $5 off ebay, to elexol's USBMOD3 and with the correct drivers they all worked just fine.
