Change of plan: Manifold is going in the bin and I'm making another one. I have to relocate the turbo for packaging reasons. It's not such a big deal, I can keep the collector and the flanges.

paid $400 for the turbo, it's new but I have yet to find out if it is any good. The idea is interesting however, it uses vanes in the exhaust housing to give the turbo a bigger dynamic range and make it spool a lot quicker.

New manifold built, had to scrap the turbo flange because I destroyed it when I was trying to machine it straight, today was not my day.

That's gonna make some ill *** topend power !!! The question is, why are you going to need "ill *** top-end power" on a car with 35'' tires ?

oh, you need power on a car with 35" tires, in snow when the tires are deflated they absorb a lot of power (plus they weigh 80lbs each with the rim), and I particularly like driving uphill, out of control at full throttle.

I like you already !!!
Just wondering why you wouldn't be more concerned with low end power vs 5500+rpm power... just wondering, not really judging...
Did I meantion I think you did some nice work ?

I'll have to see what the boost threshold is like with this turbo. On my old setup the engine was dead until 1500rpm, then it started spooling and by 2000rpm it was pulling. Kind of bad when you're in a very, very steep hill and out of the effective power range, hehe. Under those situations I'd have the throttle floored and blip the clutch once or twice and the car would start pulling. That setup did however fall flat before 5000rpm.
I will be adding an extra transfer case sometime to get lower overall gearing off road, I just hate added weight, am trying to keep this car as light as possible (hence why I'm still running a Suzuki aluminum motor and not something bigger.
This car was already faster than most off road trucks, but I wanted more. It did a 16.4 @ 80mph at the drag strip last summer, on smaller tires, 2.1 60ft. I'm hoping to pull 15's on this setup when it's completed. My rear differential doesn't think much of drag strip launches however.
