Hey ladies.
So this past weekend the new rear axle got put in… The Ford 8.8 rear. Awesome axle swap, especially for the price.
Ford 9” rear’s go for $2,000 complete, plus they require fabrication to fit.
My Ford 8.8” rear is direct bolt in!!!! $400 from the salvage yard out of a 95+ explorer. I also Sold my stock axle 20 mins after I took it out as well for $100 on craigslist.
Best parts about this new axle: 3.73 gears, Limited slip, Ladder bars, Disc brakes, 31 spline axles. To do all this to a Ford 9”, or even to modify my stock axle, would have been WAY MORE THAN THE $300 it cost me! So for the dollars spent, this was a hell of a deal.
$400 for the axle
-$100 old axle
$30 U bolt kit and lowering blocks
$45 Ford U joint flange
So for $375, I think it’s a HELL of a mod.

Hopefully this axle will handle the Hoosiers I wanna get: 29”x12”- 15 drag slicks. I think a 12” wide tire should be good enough to make up for the zero weight in the back of this thing.

Check out how much BEEFIER the 8.8 is than the stock GM 7.5

If only I was using the stock 2.2L and t5 tranny… then the drive shaft would have lined up perfectly w/ the 8.8!

The rear has 2” lowering blocks. Hoefully w/ the heavier engine in front, the front should come down 2” as well… If not, I might just cut off half a coil out of the front spring.

The Rear axle (8. was 6” wider overall from hub to hub than the 7.5. Luckily, the stock jeep wrangler tires I had lying around were the right Lug pattern (5x4.5), and also the perfect offset! Check it out!

SO… why didn’t I get anything else done this weekend?
Two reasons… I had to finish making a passenger seat for the woman… and help a friend put his LS/vtec engine in his honda. Built, and turbod… should be 350whp~~ He’s my hired help paid in returned help.

^ He didn’t trust my Schwab Shop Customs welding job on his engine mounts… So I showed him I could dance on his valve cover… THEN I made him dance too, and snagged a Polaroid of his stupidity…

haha, oh yea? what sucks about it? All the seams are straight, no crinkled fabric, seat foam is all shaped to match the lines of the bike...

i think you're talking so much bullshit that you're stinky breath is bleaching my hair all the way over here across the interwebs.

In other news... Engine harness arrived from Jared at Current Performance this week, that will get set up, stock engine will be pulled, and new engine put in this weekend... pics to ensue~

You have seams, where they shouldn't be. You don't have seams, where they need to be. Top stitching looks horrid. Wrong type of vinyl for application. Dont get me wrong, I have seen a lot worse, but its not by all means good.

Heres what GOOD upholstery work looks like. Of course this is it a $95/hour labor rate.

A- if it's custom, and it's MINE, not YOURS.... how can you say where there SHOULD and SHOULDN'T be seams

B- you have NO idea what kind of vinyl i used from looking at a picture, therefore you can't say i used the wrong type, therefore eat a shoe. (besides, there are two types, not one).. but i'm sure you didnt see that from the picture either.

C- I didn't do the stitching... stitching came from something else that was upholstered by the factory... I don't use girly sewing machines, nor a needle and thread.

D- You're ignorant... talking about my bike seats when you have no idea. You just got owned by my Back-yard / basement upholstery knowledge. Try again.

IN OTHER NEWS.... THE ENGINE IS IN THE TRUCK!!!!!!!!! pics coming monday-ish.
1- Clutch STILL isn't here... it's been close to 2 months
2- Oil Sandwich adapter is WRONG size again... how many different types of PF48 filters are there in California? silly teenage pimply parts counter worker... had to send it back again.
3- ARP headbolts, WRONG ONES AGAIN!. 1st set came from local speed shop guy... Small block chevy bolts. NOT LS1!. Returned them... 2nd set came from Ebay. ordered for LS1 specific. Box arrives, i look inside... they are LS6 bolts. WRONG AGAIN! sending them back tomorrow morning, hopefully get the right ones this time.

Awesome build, looking forward to more progress, pics, and videos. Years ago a buddy of mine had an S-10 Blazer with a Vette motor in it. It was very fast. A tight fit if I recall correctly, no turbo on his.

This thread makes me want to buy a truck. Love the S10... can't wait to see it done and some dyno numbers. HP should be nuts!
