Default Ls/Vtec Turbo Issues...

Alright, well first off, I am new here and I am mainly doing some research for a friend.

Last night, we turbo'd his EG Hatch with an Ls/Vtec in it.

Components:

Saab T3 Turbo .42/.48 (off of a c900T)
FMIC
SSAutocrap Manifold
Greddy Type S BOV
Turbonetics Deltagate External Wastegate (open)
Stock ECU
Stock Injectors

I am not very familiar with turboing a Honda, or any car other than a Saab for that matter.... His car goes great in 1st and 2nd gear, but as soon as he gets into 3rd it starts running like ---- (spitting and sputtering). I think it is the ECU and Injectors, but I would like some opinions... If you shut the car off when it starts running shitty, and turn the key back on and pop the clutch, it kicks *** again but then goes right back to ---- mode lol (which is why I am leaning towards the ECU)....

Thanks in advance!

First I would get rid of the meltagate unless he wants to replace his ls/vtec, then I would get some 450s, chip the ecu and get a tune. Otherwise it aint gonna work

although the wastgate is open the car might be producing very little positive pressure in higher gears (more load and restriction in the wastegate can be helping this) and since its a stock ECU it would go into limp mode because of the + prs. you shouldny use the car with a stock ecu get it chipped and get some bigger injectors

If you continue like you are, your motor will not live long at all. You need some REAL fuel manangement. Get you Crome or Uberdata. Search around. It's easy and it will save your motor. Also, that turbo is pretty small for that setup. It will pull great until Vtec, and then it will probly fall on it's face.

Thanks guys, I will tell him what you guys said... I appreciate it...

As for the turbo size, I don't think he wants anything real big, not yet....

I'm not sure for Honda's, but I am running 20 psi in my Saab with the Garrett t3 and it runs great... I will probably be getting a Turbonetics Super 60/.63 for it in the future though....

Hopefully my buddy will listen to me! lol...

all I can say is o' god. Dude... maybe i missed something but you CANNOT run a turbo setup in ANY car with a stock ECU tune and stock injectors... from a NA car. You need to get that stuff taken care of ASAP or you will not get to enjoy that motor for more than a week. Search for Crome on pgmfi.org and get a laptop and chipping kit/Ostrich or Eeprom burner.
