machining would be costly. $100 or more.
if you can get the rods for $10-20, then it might be worth it. after installing one, you would have to see if the block needs to be notched.

Bottom end width is .892" and the pin diameter is 19mm (.784")
B18
Bottom end width is .935" and the pin diameter is 21mm (.826")

So .0125" needs to be milled off each side of the bottom and the top end needs to be re-bushed to 19mm.

I never really understood how that worked. If someone has some pics I would really like to look at them. I can read about stuff all day but untill I see it I wont know what you are really talking about.

It will be that much less of a headache if you just got the right aftermarket rods in your D block to begin with.

Don't go ------- playing nature with motors, certain things like VTEC heads and sbc 400 cranks can be hybrided easily into other vehicles.

This is one thing that needs to be left alone, not worth ------- your ---- up going 7k+ rpms

i just did this to my set of ls rods (i'm a toolmaker)... i used silicone bronze. and i still have enough stock to do 2 sets of rods... if you want i'll do it for $75 shipped back to you. but you need to ship your rods to me, of course.

let me know.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Well if it works for him, cool.

I'm still sticking with the "don't ---- with ----" answer.

you can pick up ls rods for 30 beans. i have a super secret source. call any shop that builds b series, they throw them out.
even if you cant make your own bushings, crower sells them for 40 dollars. take the rod to a local machine shop with a stock rod, and have them shave the big end (its like 1mm), shot peen them and have the bushings pressed in. if your not planning on making more than 350 at the wheels, these rods with the vitara slugs is a great low buck option.
