they are far from fast if you're talking all motor. Now, if you go turbo it's a different beast. VVti bottom ends are not as strong as the Supra bottom even though they use the same engine, however the vvti engine uses different weaker internals. Thus, the max u can push outta of a stock vvti bottom end without sending a rod through your friend's skull is about 450-500. Of course there are people who managed to squeeze much more than that, and there are some who blew theirs way before 400. So we're talking average here. Best thing is to swap in a supra bottom or at least an early model SC300 longblock <it has to be pre 98> or even an early GS300 block, then you can boost safely with a good tune to probably 700 to the wheels. SC's and GS's have higher compression than supras but still very boost friendly. there's a lot of information and research that you gonna have to do on your own though. Why do i know all this, i have a late model SC300 which have the same engine as the IS300, I swapped in a supra bottom and hooked up GT35R, all managed by AEM EMS. Untuned yet but 470 whp on 18 PSI is common with this setup. GL with the car, let me know if you have questions, also visit my.is and clublexus.com for the most knowledge for your purpose...
