Default Single Turbo Lexus GS400

Here is an unusual turbo system design on a Lexus GS400.

I am planning on eventually turbo'ing my 99 Lexus LS400 (same engine, tranny, diff) and this is one option. Another is STS type single or twins. If anyone has the dimensions on the T28 and IHI RHB5 it could be helpful.

Anyway, this is my first post. Awesome site. Great info. Good members.

a homemade turbo lexus.. some people have too much time and money. but to answer your questions, both a t25 and the IHI will be WAY to small for a single turbo, if thats what yout planninng on doing. even for twins, they'd be small. look into a pair of .48/.60 t3's or 60/63 t3's. early single turbo 300zx were the latter of the two and are cheap.

Isn't that a v8? Even if its a six, I would still go bigger than a 48/60

GS400/SC400/LS400 all have 4.0 liter 32 valve V8.

The picture above is a 1999 GS400 with about 200k miles. If you read the thread it actually was previously SC'd and just received a rebuilt low compression forged engine. The GS400 pictured has a single in front of the engine.

My car is a 1999 LS400. Packaging is very tight and I am thinking a low boost 400rwhp remote twin ala STS style. Currently my car is about 235rwhp. So, I only need about 25lb/min flow at around 6psi. A pair of small turbos may be all that is needed. Undercar space is very limited. Would like to retain emissions and all other underhood operations including factory cooling/fan. Internal WG is fine. Will probably do a remote self contained turbo oil system if I go this route. Other options would be low mounts off the stock manifold locations.

Dang, that a typo?
Nope, not a typo.

Some more pics. BTW, the link to the LONG thread is in my first post above the pic.

Pics of the new low compression forged piston motor. The xUZFE already has a forged crankshaft and 6 bolt maincaps.
