Default JB weld on my OIL PAN

I have JB weld holding the brass fitting on to my oil pan. I have it gobed on. I read before that i should spray the JB weld with heat resistant paint. Is this to make it look good? or to actually keep the JB weld from coming off?

Should be fine without the spray, I dont see why coatin it on the outside whould protect it inbetween the pan and the weld

yeah i think spraying it with paint would make it look more gay because you would have a circle of spraypaint on the pan. Even though nobody is going to be looking anyway so do whatever.

after about 10,000 miles my jb weld fitting is no longer a tight seal with the oil pan. yes it was immaculate when i did it. there is a slight space between the fitting and the jbweld, i believe this is due to the thermal expansion of the fitting as it heated up, and the inability of the jb weld to contract. bottomline, if you don't want to worry about it, don't use jbweld on your oil return, i'm now going to have to spend a long weekend just to fix my past mistake. be smart get it brazed.
