I was wondering since i already have a brass fitting. Can i weld it onto the oil pan without having to melt the brass fitting? Can a mig/tig welder be able to do thaT?

 

no you cant weld it, youd have to braze it with a torch.

yeah I was just going to say that, but you can only braze to aluminum, I beleive. Just either jbweld it, or do what I did, drill the hole the right size, thread it in, and secure it on the other side with a nut that locks it. The 'nut' on a BX electrical connector is the correct size for the home depot brass fitting, and it will never move / leak if you size the hole right and force it to thread in!

btw you can braze anything

 

You can braze almost everything. If one metal is far to soft then it would obviously melt before the other is warm enough to accept the 'weld'. But you could easily braze your brass fitting onto the oil pan.
