internal wastegate question
took apart my wastegate tonite after testing it a few days ago at 10-11psi opening pressure.
i decided i would open it up and replace the spring to achieve a lower boost level (5psi) so that there was more room for adjustability using a mbc and so that i could run the turbo before going to the dyno not worrying about blowing it.
but anyway, i took it apart and found a spring roughly 1.5 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches long.
logically, if you cut the spring in half it would reduce the pressure level that it opens at by 50%. and this is possible because the spring is already 50% tensioned when it is inside the wastegate, so it would still be tight inside the wastegate just less tension.
either that or would you recommend getting a new spring with less tension yet still keeping the same dimentions?
if cutting the the spring seems like a logical solution, how would you recommend cutting the spring. or how much would you recommend taking off?

Re:internal wastegate question
the gasket maker crap doesn't work that great, so i think im gonna use some jb weld.
but i grinded off about a half inch to an inch of the spring and it went from 10-11psi down to 6-7psi.
that seems to be reasonably safe to run until i get a fuel pump and some 450cc injectors.
btw, exactly what years were second generation dsm's?
and also, just to clarify, the injectors came in turbo'd eclipses?
