I have a seen people on here make good power with holset turbos. I have a 03 dogde cummins that runs 35-40psi of boost and makes close to 500whp on a turbo that is close to the same as the older hx35. I know that is on a diesel with a diffrent power band but i still don't see what the problem is. The rurbo only has 15000 mikes on it. So without everyone giving me so much ----. Is there a logical reason that this turbo is a bad idea? I will buy a better turbo if there is a reason too.

HX35 will not make 500whp on a B5.9, sorry. Fist yourself, Steve.

I don't think that you know ---- about diesels. I made 407whp and 773 with a 100hp edge box and 50hp ddp injectors, I now have a 160hp diablo sport predator and 90hp fuel box with the injectors. My egt's get hot but its close to 500hp now. I think you know alot about turbos and ---- but it seems like now all you do is talk ---- anymore. All i was doing was asking a question and i guess i wont get a answer.

You're going to have to explain to me how a compressor good for 550 whp in a gas application produces 500 whp on a diesel. Your 407 is impressive for Dynojet numbers, but is far from 500 whp.

I am an even better resource of information now than I ever was. Like I said, there were three threads in the last week about Holsets, all of which contained your information. How do I know? I ----------ing posted in them.

You've been directed to the search function multiple times, are you that stupid that you still can't find the information you seek? I can't see any reason why you'd keep posting in this thread except you keep failling to get a ------- clue.

Steve you made two bad mistakes

1- you think that a compressor that will make 500hp on a diesel will make 500hp on a gas engine.

2-You told JD he doesn't know ----

BTW my 6.0l will kick the ---- out of your piddly *** narrow power band, under reving 6 cyl, school bus sound cummins.

Have a nice day

6.0l You must be talking about a powerjoke. Show me a powerstroke that puts out 1000whp and runs 10's. I think not. Those 6.0l are known for llfting heads and blowing up turbos. I think that JD knows alot when it comes to a gasser but a diesel is a diffrent story. BTW you dont know ---- about diesels and you prove it by talking up a powerstroke.

Prove me wrong then, Steve.

I'm pretty sure the amount of airflow that a HX35 is good for, and it's not manifesting as gobs of hp at a 3000 rpm redline; it's manifesting as gobs of tq. It's pretty easy to calculate 55 lb/hrs of air at 3000 rpms and 100% VE - Fred showed me the math! Haha, you're not quite as stupid as Fred, but keep working at it, huh?

Steve
I never said my powerstroke would walk a 1000hp cummins, I said my powerstroke would walk your supposed 500hp cummins. No a 6.0l will not make 1000hp as easily as a cummins would but it has still be done. I also know my motor as it sits right now is a hand gernade but so is my honda, lol.

Ok normally I just lurk here, but this one makes me jump in as diesel is more my thing...

First Steve your turbo on the 03 5.9 is a HE341 which is closer to an hx40/35 hybrid then a straight hx35. Next it is still maxed out with the injectors and box's you are running, yes as a diesel has a HUGE range for AFR's any where from 100:1+ at idle to 6:1 or less under heavily over fueled load. On a dyno jet you might be able to squeeze an extra 40hp out of your setup, albeit you it will be nearly undriveable as EGT's will be out of control in about 5 sec of WOT, but it will never dyno 500rwhp on a stock charger, it just won't happen. Realistically to run the amount of hp and fuel that you are now you should be into an S300 based charger probably a 62 / 87 sized. Doesn't matter if it is a I.I, BD, HTT, ect... they are all just modified versions of the same charger, and are all 450 -500whp chargers, that you could actually tow with and or use other then on a dyno. Your truck @ 400whp is just a dyno queen, that charger used within acceptable egt's is a 375whp charger @ most. Now that we have covered your truck lets move on.

Cummins, vs Powerstroke, vs Durramax is an impossible to win debate. It's a personal choice.

I know of 3 STREET driven cummins motor's over 1000hp on pump #2, NO DRUGS. I know of one Durramax, with another one that will roll shortly, and I know of 0 powerstrokes.

With that being said the biggest thing holding powerstrokes back for this long is the HPOP, as it just wasn't capable of providing much more then 600rwhp of fuel without adding propane for extra fueling. Now with the advent of dual HPOP things have started to change, but are still a slow evolution, as it still costs almost twice as much / hp to mod a powerstroke past 600rwhp as it does a cummins or durramax. With this being said there are several drag and pulling trucks in all forms that run over 1000hp.

Steve I can clearly see that your diesel and turbo knowledge is purely what someone has told you based. 40psi on that stock charger is just pushing hot air. You have a built honda motor, but can't figure out what charger to run... There is like a 300 page thread on H-T with every possible combination of chargers and engine's and the power they make spoon fed for you, as we can clearly see that taking the time to figure out reading a compressor map or turbine map is going to be way too much effort for you. Now being a noob here I'm not going to tell you to ---- OFF, or DIE, but I am going to suggest that you not bother posting here anymore as HMT requires you to at least think a tinny bit for yourself, where as H-T will gladly hold your hand, and spoon feed you everything you want, whether it is BS or not...

Now as this is my first post here is what all you NIG NOG's have been waiting for...
