How many psi could stock sleeves hold?
How many psi could stock sleeves hold on a 99 civic si b16a? i read in a thread here some guy say they can hold 18-20 no problem? ok. i'm running 10-11psi stock internals.
would like to install pistons & rods so i can push 15-17psi.

The rumor is 15psi until the walls start shaking but every limit can be pushed. On a B16, your ringlands are going to break way before you even get close to hurting the walls. I did 15psi in my GSR on stock internals. Its all on tuning
well i got very good tunning and can get it tunned again when i install the heavy duty rods & pistons. I just wanna know if it'll be ok to boost 15-17 psi w/aftermarket pistons & rods on the stock block sleeves. While on the topic, would you say it's ok to boost 12psi on stock internals w/good tunning? if so how long do you think the motor would last?
Whitey's correct, and your definately going to need to get that thing tuned properly if your planning on taking it to the max on stock internals. But, I think more or less the question your trying to ask is how much power can stock internals handle before shitting the bed.
one of the least exspensive ways to help the cylinder walls weve tested short of welding is to o-ring the block and head. the oring inset will act to locate the bore and it offer upto a %40 decrease in deflection. find a competent shop[ and see what they have to say. its cheape then sleeve and looks about as good. now if you knock those wall no matter how good you locate the bores the sleeve will basically shatter. so go slow take your time and creep up on the ideal tunning. and remeber run the least amount of timming consistent with max performance. IE if the engien makes no more power at 25 btdc then at 20 btdc go with 20 btdc. works for me all the time.
i saw i guy run 20 psi on stock b16 sleeves. he had a block guard and aftermarket rods & pistons tho.on a b16 with a good tune u should be fine for a pritty long time on 12psi.of coarse it all might depend on how hard u drive it to.
with good tunning and a good set up you will not need to run any more then 10-12 psi. Im making 306 whp and 204 wtq on 8psi, with a built 9.5 cr gsr, stock sleaves, eagle rods and pistons.
I have a friend that is running 20psi on a stock gsr sleaves with a blockguard
turnning 375 whp and 275 wtq.
So the sleaves will take it if the eng. is tuned right. 98ctr
