I say if your a hardcore racer and want a extra edge, ditch ps and air.
Because it's a pump. Pumps take horsepower to turn.

i say loose all the heavy things, engine, tranny, battery then just flinstone that bitch nah lol but thermal wrap fuel lines as someone said. thermal wrap exhaust(benificial in some cases, not all),turn up fuel pressure, run a test pipe, polish TB, i put dimples in my intake runners *make the intake look like a golf ball* best on n/a. spray carb cleaner or hi octan gas on you air filter element*can't remember who told me that but i heard it does something*

I run a clutch fan... thermal vs. rpm. I had a fixed fan. It was originally metal. I didn't like that so I went nylon. That bitch was LOUD> sounded like a B-17 going down the freeway. I ended up going to a guy that sells on e-bay who has a shop locally, and bought an aluminum clutch fan. It only comes on when the temp is up.. and it is quiet too. Sweet thing is I paid $15 for the fan, and because of the casting numbers on it I found out it was worth about $150.

I kept the mechanical fan because I run A/C. I could go electric, but to be really efficent on my vehicle I would have to get an all aluminum radiator to really have the insurance of not overheating. $$

You aint gotta rip ---- apart. And don't swap in a manual rack. Honda manual racks are slow as ----. It's like driving a bus or something. All you have to do go buy about 20 buck worth of ---- at Napa and you will be fine. See instructions below

Note: I did this ---- like 5 years ago so I don't remember all the part #'s etc. Since my car got jacked 6 months ago I can't give you any pictures

#1 Remove belt, P/S lines and P/S pump

Note: It helps if you disconnect the lines at the pump and turn the wheel back and forth to get some of the fluid out before you unhook the lines at the rack connections and get a face full of P/S fluid

#2 find on your steering rack where the pressure and return lines attach to the rack.

#3 Goto NAPA and buy about 3 feet of hose(I think I used some fuel line) that will fit the rack fittings, 6 hose clamps(small), a barbed "T" fitting for the hose, a screw in barbed fitting, some RTV Silicone and a small reservoir of some sort. oh yeah and zip ties or something to make a bracket for the reservoir out. I used a piece of metal strapping i had laying around

#4 Now attach a piece of hose to the fittings on your steering rack.

#5 cut the hose and add the "T" section in the middle of the loop

#6 find a spot to mount your reservoir and put the barbed fitting in the bottom of the reservoir(seal with RTV).

#7 Run some of the hose from the middle fitting on the "T" to the barbed fitting on the reservoir.

#8 ok now take off the top of your reservoir and have someone SLOWLY turn the wheel all the way to each side. If you do this fast you will shoot P/S fluid everywhere. If there wasn't any fluid coming into the reservoir add a little P/S fluid and cycle the steering again. Keep adding til you get fluid in the reservoir.

As long as you don't have any leaks you're good to go. You get to keep the quicker rate of the power rack but without the parasitic drag of a pump. The steering will feel better. Theres a little more steering effort but you won't notice it after a week or 2. My 5'0 115lb wife drove the car and never complained about the steering.

I swapped in a B20B at the same time I did this mod so I can't comment on the difference in torque steer. I'm guessing it will be more noticeable.

Don't be lazy and try to just loop a piece of hose between the pressure and return fittings. I tried this first. When I launched hard the torque steer from the B20 turned the wheels so quick it blew the hose off of the fittings and sprayed P/S fluid all over my engine bay. The reservoir keeps this from happening By allowing excess pressure to vent into the reservoir. You need fluid moving through the rack to lubricate it Thats why you want some fluid showing up in the reservoir as you turn the wheels. Keeping pressure from buildin up inside the rack lowers steering effort also.

Enjoy,
Nate
