Re: Grassroots-motorsports $2008 Civic Si Build 56K no way
With time tickin away I finally got a good turbo last night.
The T-25 I had was too small and I didn't see the point in a rebuild @ $100. So last night I picked up a T3 from an Rb25. Ball bearing , 0 shaft plate , internal Gate ..keeps everything easy.
Also picked up a Ching Chong intercooler. Same size as the starion unit I had but with outlets that don't need to be modded. My fabricator who sold me the parts didn't want to mod the intercooler (time constraints)
So I go the turbo and IC for $100....
I also made the trip to ottawa for a wedding and on the way back picked up a set of 225/45/15 Avon Tech R's for $50 in GREAT shape. I posted up a "help me" thread on the local autocross board and walked away with 3 pretty good sets of R compound tires for just about nothing.
This weekend the motor goes in...

Have a friend who owns a salvage yard , he got me these 15" Omni wheels (not as shown , but identical)
Have another friend / team mate who does some home powder coating.
they are gonna be safety yellow with a polished lip. I was gonna polish them , but it just takes too long and time is of the essence.
70 days left.
Gonna take some pics this weekend , Open up the front bumper for the starion IC , drop the IC off at my welders to be modded. Put on my Home depot garden edging Front lip (ghetto fab)
the rebars (inner bumper supports) are completley gone , shedding a ton of weight from the car. In the rear it is screwed into the panel below the hatch. In the front it is attached to the trim piece that seperates the front bumper and hood. i can take the front bumper off in about a minute. Looks bone stock , but probably shed a good 60-70Lbs off the car.
I also found a pair of weld on 5" supertrapps 9Stupid trapps.
can't decide wether to go with Sid exit duals , or 2 center mounted right in the back.....

Rims clear , my tire guy said the tech R sidewalls are a bitch to mount becasue they are so stiff. 225/45/15 tech R's
the D is ready to go in.
Eville Manifold (awesome guy , amazing quality)
Gotta go visit Weirtech this week for the exhaust flange, and some other flanges for the next project, Crimsons 85 Mr2 , has the SC 6 rib block in it and internals.
the turbo was a fluke. It's from a Skyline RB25 , ball bearing, T3, the wastegate clears the block , no clocking , no nothing..just bolted it on.
Oil line mates up with the Ebay sandwhich adapter. Line came from princess auto , $13.
gonna toss this whoore in tomorrow and bring it to life.
I just tossed the filer on and realize it won't fit there.
