Re: Experience with OBX LSD...

I've used one in my ZC Tranny and now is getting swapped over to a Hyrdo Tranny. Just make sure you tighten everything down before installing. I thought I did, but I missed one, It backed out a tiny bit and when I pulled the tranny apart it was riding the housing.

got about 5k miles on mine in a z6 tranny. love it. ive had the axles out and they dont stick...the only problem i had with mine was the bolts that go into the ring gear....the heads on the bolts needed to be ground down a little (the diameter of the head) cause they were hitting the housing and it was causing them to go in crooked. a few seconds with a bench grinder and they went in perfect.

$70 for new bearings, $18 for the speedo drive ring (I keep spares!) then when the bearings are pressed onto the OBX, you can compare overall width.

Using the measurements you get a real close number on which shim to use.

B16/B18 oil control ring, .5mm thick. The thinnest shim you can get from Honda is 1.0mm.

Hey Mista. What exactly is the oil control ring, and where is it on my OBD1 LS Donor motor?

Edit: You mean the shims on the oil ring on the piston? K

i've heard good things about that brand so OBX is made in CHINA?, right? i've heard that... what do you think about that brand?

Ah the actual Piston Ring. I though you meant the little shim for the oil ring. Will do as my LS has to be bored over anyways for it's build.
