Hey guys, I keep coming back to this site and don't post at all, cause I know you've all answered most of my questions already, so this be the first. I'm settin up a 96 EK hatch d16y7 with a t25, Aaron Weir's adaptor, and hf manifold (i've got the other stuff too). the question I'm asking here is, are EGT probes necessary? if so, how do I wire 'em..if not, what would I use to plug up the hole on the hf manifold? infos would help. thanks! I'll be updating on the installs soon.

 

I would just use a bolt to plug up the hole in the manifold. I wouldnt use a EGT gauge, personaly I think an AF gauge is more accurate :P.

an egt guage is crucial to doing a good street tune, as well as a wideband 02.

this way you can tell how much timing you need to add or take out of your basemap.

yeah widebands own all, but I read that egt gauges arent accurate bc the egt's can be extremely hot when lean and rich .

 

AF sucks dick and is completely useless. I'd rather save that money or put it towards an EGT. I have an EGT and find it pretty helpful in tuning...

Wideband by far is the most useful.

while this is true, i hope you're not running a basemap with timing that is advanced. on a basemap, your timing should be conservative, so then you can adjust it to get the lowest temp in the EGT.

once the egt starts to get higher, you know where your timing should be.
