Echo hatchback w/ RHb5?

Alright... Let me introduce myself since I'm new. :)

My name's Dan and I live in Quebec, Canada.
I bought myself the new Echo hatchback that's sold here in Canada. It's pretty much the same thing as the American Scion Xa. Same engine, different body ect..

I'm looking at turbocharging my 1.5L Vvt-i. I've been sugested the RHb5 Mazda MX-6 turbo since it spools fast and boosts at decent rpms. Anyways... keep in mind I'm quite new to the turbo scene and don't know too much about them.

I'm not sure if anybody here is overly familiar with the 1NZ-FE Toyota engine, but some input on if this is feasable or not would be great. Some pointers ect..
I'm looking for up to 6-8 psi. I hope nobody's got anything against Echo's! :P

Sounds like a bad ass project.. im running a 1.5 honda motor and id recommend the t25.. they are easier to get parts for and is slightly larger than the rhb5. i hit boost (8psi) at about 3200-3500rpm..

not sure what you can do about engine management, though

I think I've gotten a pretty good price on the mx-6 turbo though... And there's a mazda-scrapyard here... so may have an abundance of parts there.

Yeah the engine management is what I was afraid of... there's tons of stuff for honda engines on the market... I'm not sure if there's anything out there to take care of the vvt-i though... maybe some things that were designed for lexus cars? Wonder if there's any such thing...

What's your compression ratio?

The engine is new so you wouldn't find a lot...I think most new toyota's use returnless fuel delivery.

Compression is 10.5:1

Do you mean try and find out what Blitz uses for fuel management?

The whole reason I'm looking at the MX-6's turbo is to not spend 3500$+tx and shipping... ::)

I'm looking for a little boost, nothing huge.

Does the echo have a MAF sensor? if not, you may be able to pull a safc hack or something. if it does have a maf sensor you'll probably need to look for a way to re-program the computer

Yes, I didn't mean buy their kit, they have been out in japan for a few years now, you can get lots of ---- for them. I thought about building one but decided against it.
