does the check engine light on make the motor have less power?
i've had my check engine light on for a while now and i also took out the bulb a while ago since i got frustrated and couldn't get it to turn off. the code i kept getting was air/fuel metering, this was on an obd2 scanner. question is, if having the CEL on causes the engine to produce less power? i heard haveing the CEL on retards the timming and richens the fuel to save the engine. ??

the check engine light doesnt come on for no reason. if it reads a code for air/fuel metering, then you have a problem in that area. I suggest you plug the bulb back in and fix the problem instead of trying to ignore it.

not all cel cause limp mode, but a/f metering could if it's air metering (ie: too much pressure map will cel) too rich/too lean shouldn't. what is the actual code number? cross reference that with a service manual.
