do i have to install a flex pipe between my down pipe & exhaust or can i just weld them together?

 

you really probably need some sort of stress relief between the dp and exhaust, otherwise it could stress the manifold and precipitate cracking. i have one ~

 

best way is flex pipe and those OEM style bolts that use springs. GOOD LUCK!

could i weld on a flex exhaust tubing like the one they have a the auto parts that looks like an ac duct tubing? it's the kind that flexes & stays in the position you leave it in.

 

You need a real flex pipe. The crazy straw stuff at the auto store isn't the same thing. I've learned the hard way that w/o a flex pipe, you're only as strong as your weakest weld point.

 

factory spring bolts and ball socket flanges blow ***, and if you just directly weld them together something will break.. exhaust hanger, downpipe weld, something.. I have had all kinds of ---- break..
