Default d16y8 full boost on T3???

I'm just curious of when I should be able to hit full boost out of my SOHC. I expect around 3K, but I'm not completely positive, just my guess. It's a Volvo T3 .42/.48 turbo soon to be on my 98 Civic so a SOHC Vtec d16y8. I plan to run 8psi. Any ideas? Thanks!

depending on your exhaust set up maybe before or around 3300 rpms. i have seen people with stock exhaust get spool times at around 3600 rpms so maybe 3000 rpms is achievable

I have the setup you want. I have a 2.5" downpipe and a restrictive 2.25" mandrel-bent exhaust system. I get full boost at 3500rpm in 4th gear. In 1-3 gear it starts to spool around 3-3500rpm and gets full boost a tad bit after that. I am running 7 psi spiking to 9 psi. I love it, but my 3" exhaust should be coming in and will be installed next week. I am hoping I get full boost at 3500rpm in 1-3 gears. If you want, i could let you know how it goes.........

Depends on what kind of manifold you're using. Pressure drop across the turbine is what determines spool time.

I think it's an even flow mani from HKS. Cast iron. It's not peakboost/ramhorn style, but not log. An in-betweener.

I would guess around 3k. If you're running an electronic boost controller maybe a little earlier. Thats prolly about as good as it's gonna get. Any turbo that would spool earlier prolly wont be able to support enough airflow to maintain 8 psi til redline.

I got a deal on the T3 so I went with it and I was worried since it was bigger on a sohc that it'd lag and be kinda slower than hoped. However, alot of people support the bigger later spooling T3 to the T25 and T28. Anyone else have an opinion?
