you can do a decent d15 build for little money nothing special but decent.
do a rebuild with
-totalseal rings
-nice metal head gasket
-a6 cam with y7 cam gear
-arp head studs or bots
and a hmt kit
should be a fun motor just keep it tuned right and don't go crazy with the boost

Its not really worth it to even open it up, even with a half assed hmt kit you should be capable of pushing the b7 to its limits, which seems to be the rods. and who'ever said "new rods" forget it unless you want to spend $700+ on a set of crower's because they are the only option you have for rods with a b7. Just give'r'hell untill somthing lets loose or you get bored then build a d16.

i had a d15b7 with like 200k miles and put a t3/t4 57 trim turbo on it with a hotrex manifold a couple years back...ran that bitch at 10psi every day and raped the ---- out of it with an fmu and missing link...held together for a good amount of time until it was stolen
