^^^ that sounds pretty good. Some moron I sold a 14b to locally thought it was fucked because of the cracks.

Hell it's like find a 14B this doesn't have some form of a crack in it's turbine housing. lol. Yes before some jackass replies...Oh I have a 14B that's perfect and no cracks...yada yada yada go fist your dad's peehole..yada yada... The majority of 14B have cracks is just what I'm saying...I'd say close to like 65-75% I've ever seen had some. I did pull a 14B at a yard and it was mint but the car had under 100k on it and everything under the hood looked mint and not beaten on. So yes they do exist but I wouldn't worry about the cracks. Just bolt it on and boost away. I've never seen one that was cracked so bad it fell apart or anything. Just the cracks wastegate hole can give you a little tiny midgets pubic hair amount of creep. Nothing I'd worry about though. Like 2G6 said these are getting to be older turbo's and being DSM's they get the most out of these things while there on there or the car is running. I wouldn't be surprised when I pull my 14B off it'll be cracked like plumber's butt cheeks at my VR4 has 179k on the car has little engine mods but knowing there are some mods on it. It mostly likely wasn't drove like granny's 1989 Pontiac 6000LE either.

cracks wont hurt it at all, but if you really want them welded.
" PLEASE DO NOT MIG WELD THEM" CAST IRON NEEDS TO BE HEATED
TO A SOFT RED GLOW THEN WELDED WITH EITHER STAINLESS TIG OR CAST IRON
WELDING RODS. IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY IT WILL CRACK AGAIN AND WORSE.

he hooked me up with a 12a rebuild & upgrade to 16g as well as
external wastegate conversion for my starion.

grinding down the wider part of the crack is not fixing the problem. you still have cracks.

You know when I got mine it had a couple cracks on the WG hole and there was a long hair line crack on the side. I spent about a month calling welding shops and other metal companies and the final verdict was to braze it. Welding cast will not last and will not fill the cracks.
YOU Will need to heat it red hot and use some brazing sticks. Its like solder and will just run right into the cracks and fill them. With the cracks on the WG hole just let the cracks fill in then close the flapper so it gets a perfect seal. Thats what I did to mine. Worked perfect and still is holding.
There is also a website that sells a stanless OEM replacment with bigger ports for better flow... I dont have the website anymore but it would cost $200 which is to much anyways. SO ya... either do it yourself (cheaper) or take it to a shop and have them braze it.
