I wouldn't laid a bead down cause that cast housing is gonna have a different expansion rate then that of the fluxcore and if the housing expands and the weld breaks loose from the housing kiss that turbine wheel goodbye. Just leave it is my .02

i thought the cracks were after the wheel in the exhaust flow, therefore if it cracked and came loose it would just keep goin out that exhaust.

no, the hole for the flapper is right below where the turbo bolts to the mani. One crack goes from the flapper and up into the flange area...so if I did weld it there would be a bead inside the housing that if it did break off would go into the turbine.

Every used 14b with the stock 6cm hotside is cracked. It's a design flaw from Mitsu, not to mention the turbos are from cars made in 1990-1994, so 10+ years of 1500 degree EGT's will cause cracking. An easy solution to the flapper hole cracks is to remove the little stock flapper and buy a stainless one that's larger in diameter and then port the flapper hole out and usually this gets rid of any of the bigger cracks. Port the inlet out to 7cm too.

Installing a larger flapper is a little tricky, but can be done with a die grinder, butane torch, some PB Blaster and some delicate removal of the little washer that holds it on, and of course good aim with a hammer so you don't smash your hand while mushrooming the head of the new flapper. I can point you in the right direction for a larger flapper and write up some instructions for you, or you can send me the exhaust housing and I'll do the flapper upgrade and port the inlet for you (cheap). I've done it a bunch of times, I have all the removed stock flappers to prove it lol.

I wouldn't really worry about it though unless you're running over stock psi and/or planning on doing tons of 4th and 5th gear pulls.
