The Mafs in those cars don't last forever. That is why a guy named Bob Baily designed a product called the "Maf translator". It converts the buick Maf harness to a LS-1 type MAF. The LS6/Z06 Maf is 3.75 inches, while the stock GN/GNX Maf is only around 3 inches, and much more retrictive.

Check out ramchargers.com for the MAF-T.

I think the translator is about $250 and the Z06 Maf cost me like $120 brand new.

My Maf translator is for my stealth Twin turbo, but my best friend has a 10sec GN.

GN=best modern drag racer ( my friends ran 14.3 BONE BONE BONE STOCK, like 28K mile factory air filter still in it "factory", then he put JUST BFG drag radicals and weld racing rims on it and it ran 12.8 !!! ) . His car still only has 32K miles on it after 4 years.

mmm GNXs are the absolute shizz. Did you ever see the vid of the guy with his tt GN on the dyno? The damnd thing rose like 5" when the boost came up and it ended up smoking the slicks, on the dyno... and it still was rated at 1070hp or somthing... sick

do you mean 13.8? a 12.8 in a factory car would be nuts

No I mean 12.8 BONE STOCK with weld drag lites, and BFG 275/60/R15s with 28K miles. 12.8.

The car is a t-top-less, none power option GN. Now it runs 10s and still only has 32K miles on it. Still smells brand new inside !!!

He's got the weight down to 3150LBS, and nothing looks modified at !!! Of course the engine is modified, but it only has bolts ons !!! The heads, cam, intake, and short block are ALL FACTORY 1987 BUICK INSTALLED PARTS !!!

Runs a PTE T-67 now.

16 year old driver + very limited edition buick that happens to be the fastest production car built in 1987 = Bad idea !! GNXs should be able to pull 12.80s with the stock tires.

THe GNX is such a limited production that all the GN guys that plan on highly modding there cars, wouldn't buy them b/c they don't wanna destory/wreck/twist something that is kinda a "flagship" for the turbo regals.

He might wanna check the ceramic compressor blade on the turbo, since its such a "breakable" wheel, I'd be scared to drive it anywhere.

PS: my freinds 32K mile GN has never been wet !! NOt even to wash it !!! When he's done driving it, he puts it up on jack stands to prevent the suspension from "sagging" due to the weight of a regal sitting on it for years and years !! He's kinda insane, but then again, it is a "show car" that can run 10's...
