Default BOOST CREEP

ok i did a search and did not find anything too useful on the subject. ok my wastegate right now is set to aprox 7psi. if i floor it it will spike up to about 10psi then go back down to 7. now what would happen if i increase my pressure at the wastegate to stay at 10psi. will thw boost creep increase porpotionally to 12-13 psi?? or will it stay steady? everything was going good until i replaced my cat with a test pipe. any suggestions? thanks

probably go to 12psi yes.

i am still confused on why boost creep happens when u get a bigger exhaust or downpipe..

mabey its something to do with vacuum with a small exhaust the vacuum will be greater inside the housing thus pulling exhaust gases faster through the WG hole. with a bigger downpipe or exhaust there is less vacuum and the little hole just isnt big enough to route enough exhaust gases.

any thought?

Well first of all how does the waste gate operate?
I'm not fully sure myself but by the looks of it you're using a vacuum solenoid to pull open a lever right?
Where is the vacuum coming from?
That might be the answer to boost creep right there?

I'm getting it really bad at 10 psi.

the pressure for the wastegate is coming from the turbo itself. i turned up the boost to 9psi lat night and creep went up also but not equally. it just goes to 10psi them back to nine. im just gona leave it like that.

boost creep as a result of exhaust mods is simple. If you run an open down pipe you get a lot of boost creep unless you run a big wastegate because the exhaust has so low of back pressure to go through the turbine compared to the backpressure behind the wastegate that the exhaust flows through the turbine thus making boost even when the wastegate is fully open.

so basically the exhaust go through the path of least resistance.

RENR, your boosting an A6 with a AFC hack right?
Im also battling with some boost creep in higher gears/loads with my setup. I have been trying different things over the paste two days, and almost have it worked out. I am curious as to what kind of WG you are using (internal, external), and what are you using to control boost? (stock actuator, spring?)
If you do a roll on in second from say 3k, describe exactly what the boost gauge reads.

TIA
