blown turbo?

Default blown turbo?

i had a pipe blow out yesterday so i went to put it back on and i notice there was a lot of oil in the piping andi also see some smoke off the turbo,does it mean i have a blown seal or something?anyway i can fix it without rebuilding it?how much do u guys think it would cost to rebuild it or just get a new setup?thanks

Huh,

You probably have a blown seal. Ya!! You have to go out and buy a whole new Greddy Kit!!!!




For real! Look on ebay for a rebuild kit. If you don't feel comfortable with rebuilding it yourself, send it out to someone who does it, buy a new/rebuilt turbo, or try you luck on a kunkyard unit.

What turbo are you running?
If its a bit on the smaller side of things your best to buy a t3..If you're not already running one

i have a dsm t25,damn i have to change everything now,cuz the turbo is welded to the adapter and the manifold has bigger threads in the hole,i wonder what if i keep driving it what would happen?damn i cant belive the turbo got fucked up,it had no shaft play at all...

does it have any shaft play now? my setup always had some oil in the charge piping n my turbo was brand spankin new lol... dude u needa jus let me check out ur setup n help u plan for ur new setup...

i justed check,theres no shft play and could putting more oil leak out the turbo?

Did you put your fingers on both ends of the compressor and exuast wheels , then move them in the same direction?
If there is any play your seals are most probably fuked.
same as what happened to me

same as what happened to me
u mean by taking it apart?i just my finger on one end and it didnt move

Yeh take the downpipe of so you can reach the exuast wheel.
Then try move it horizontally togther with the compressor wheel and if there is play its probably stuffed.

try putting a restrictor on or use a valve to adjust pressure, might help
