Where do you live? I live in San Diego as well and have been rebuilding turbos for quite some time. If you take the whole thing off, I can test the center cartridge as well as replace any seals that need to be replaced.

bro im going through that same ---- now i found out bc one of my couplers had a smakk tear causing a nasty boost leak. so i pull off the bumper and aww fuckidy ---- oil all over the inside of my ----.. so i took the feed line off and capped the return and drove it til it locked .. just kindding bro dont do that, thats not nice, bro all i can say is that sucks i feel ya.. time for a bigger turbo anywayz. but now im going to have to make a new ------- dp.

If you had piping blow out, then it is probable that your turbo over spooled/spun/revved. in most cases, if it is for a short period of time, it will cause some oil to bypass the seals. In your case with no shaft play I would drive it and see if the oil burns off and everything goes back to normal.

Anyone else chime in on this to make him feel more confident on what the problem is...
I checked out his car in person. these were a few of the problems i noticed so if u agree with anything i was suggesting go ahead n state ur opinion.
1st - i noticed his oil return like wasn't kink'd but was almost like a U but not really a U, but it went down then curv'd back up again..
2nd - his return like on the oil pan was at the bottom of the pan, return lines are supposed to be as high as possible on the pan, since its not he's getting oil backup in his return line causing oil in his charge pipes/smoking around turbo.
3rd - boost leak wise, there's a hole in the charge piping that was "sealed" with some E-Tape... under pressure the E tape will be no match up against pressured air thus being a leak. multiple home depot couplers were used which in my opinion shouldn't be and some couplers even had tape on them makin me think they had holes in tem?
4th - Not really causing any problems as we speak but it can... Oil Line is ran under the engine along the pan near the ground and is dangling down. if anything catches it it can be desasterous and rubber hot charge pipe goes under the frame which is already showing wear from being dragged/scrapped on the ground. few more times n its done for..
fixing these issues i think would get rid of his problems...

2) Nothing like a low pressure line draining into a full pan. I'm suprised this didn't happen sooner/slap whomever welded your return fitting that low on your pan. If it was you, slap yourself.
3) Electrical tape? Are you kidding me? lol Pressure leaks are not fixed with tape, they're fixed with piping that doesn't have holes.
4) Nothing like losing all of your oil through a home made oil fitting. Silly ricer.
Fix your car before you don't have one to fix. This is the exact reason why I hate to warranty my turbo rebuilds. Not because I don't trust my work, but because of newbs who hack things together and when it breaks, blame the maker.

haha yeah dude. we should get together, im bout to install my ic, lets all help eachother in installing our ic's n fixing the return line. seriously how bout next weekend? i really wanna install this biatch already.
