In stock form either a Z6 or D15B. You CAN build a D15B using eagle or tunertoy rods and Vitara pistons. Its been done so everyone else stfu :) If you never plan on building the internals go with a D15B simply because the ones you find are usualy in much better shape than any Z6 you can find for the same price. Heres what I did:
buy a D15B (under $400) slap it in and boost it. Buy a used Z6 block/crank (i paid $50) and build the bottum end on the side. Slap some rods and pistons in the Z6 block and when you are done, pull the motor and slap on the D15B head and change the cam gear to a Y8 for correct timing. You now have a cheap 300+hp motor. Now to the next chapter...tuning. |
